The long-running Broken Lens 2026 film festival in Denton will screen three new films on Jan.
23—24 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, highlighting the targeting of journalists and doctors amid the Gaza war. Additional art, music, and a free catered dinner will enhance the event’s focus on Palestinian stories.
A portion of the Denton County Confederate Soldier Memorial is now on display in the Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum after it was removed in June 2020 amid local debate over its historical ties.
The exhibit features the soldier, a cannonball — and a plaque that explains the monument’s history and its controversial past.

Grand Opening - Gene H. Fuhrman Memorial Telecommunications Education Center
UNT will honor the memory of Gene Fuhrman, NTSU 1986, with a short ceremony to open an exhibit in his honor. The exhibit commemorates the work of Gene and his parents in developing Muenster Telephone Co. into one of the finest rural telecommunications companies in the the USA, and show cases the evolution of telecommunications technology.
Denton Mardi Gras 2026
