- ➤ On Sunday, Jan. 25 at 3:10 p.m., Lewisville firefighters rescued a man and a woman from a frozen retention pond along Hwy 121 after they entered icy water trying to save a dog — firefighters later spent 45 minutes searching without success. Cross Timbers Gazette

- ➤ ERCOT's grid held up (according to SMU expert Bruce Bullock) after a winter storm challenged power supply on Monday. A federal backup order issued Sunday will remain until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday to allow extra power if needed. CBS Texas

Grand Opening - Gene H. Fuhrman Memorial Telecommunications Education Center
UNT will honor the memory of Gene Fuhrman, NTSU 1986, with a short ceremony to open an exhibit in his honor. The exhibit commemorates the work of Gene and his parents in developing Muenster Telephone Co. into one of the finest rural telecommunications companies in the the USA, and show cases the evolution of telecommunications technology.
