Ponder High School senior football player Caden Nowicki sustained critical injuries in a sledding accident Monday afternoon on Amyx Hill Road when his kayak detached from an ATV, and he remains in intensive care at Medical City Denton while the school accepts food gift card donations for his family.

Denton area school districts closed classes today due to lingering ice on parking lots, sidewalks, and bus routes, officials said.

Road crews continue deicing work + schools plan to return to normal on Friday.

After a winter storm forced Carter BloodCare to close donation centers for four days, North Texas now lacks 4,000 blood units needed by over 18,000 patients.

The nonprofit urges residents to donate (especially O-negative blood and platelets) at its 27 centers.
