ECONOMY NEWS

  • On March 23rd, North Texas Food Bank said that USDA cuts in funding will hurt local food programs and small farmers by reducing the amount of fresh produce bought from Texas farms. Chief Impact Officer Anne Readhimer said the bank must change its plans as Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said the state will keep backing local food programs.  CBS Texas

  • Rodney Booth, an award-winning musician and principal lecturer at the College of Music (retiring after 20 years), is stepping down from his position. He will finish his final semester today and plans to record new music and play gigs with his band while spending more time with his wife.  North Texas Daily
  • The Student Government Association Election Board voted 2—1 last Friday to disqualify Kyren Carey, a social science junior, from running for president after he reactivated his campaign Instagram account on March 19th during a campaign blackout. His disqualification leaves only one eligible ticket on the ballot and changes the field for the student government contest.  North Texas Daily
