- ➤ Police said a body was recovered from Lake Lewisville at Copperas Branch Park on Sunday after a car went over the guardrail early Saturday morning at 3:35 a.m.—the driver was believed to be the only person in the vehicle. NBC 5
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Texas Department of Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller said the eastern monarch butterfly population nearly doubled after last winter due to conservation efforts, with surveys showing an increase from 2.22 acres to 4.42 acres of forest in central Mexico. Miller added that improved habitat and favorable weather along the butterflies' 3,000-mile migration route helped boost numbers—Texas and U.S. conservation strategies will continue supporting the species.
