- ➤ North Texas voters will consider more than $4.5 billion in school bond proposals in several districts this Saturday. Celina ISD plans a $2.3 billion package for new schools to meet growing enrollment—while other districts seek funds for renovations and new facilities. KERA
- ➤ The first class of students in UNT’s ELEVAR program will soon graduate at the University of North Texas — marking a milestone for a new educational initiative in DFW. NBC 5
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Denton submitted an application on April 23 asking for $3.75 million from the DCTA TRiP to fund five pedestrian and transit projects near key DCTA routes, including sidewalk upgrades on Colorado Boulevard and quiet zone improvements downtown. If approved by late June or July, planned public meetings will update residents within a half-mile of the project sites — the projects aim to boost safety and accessibility — and construction will soon begin. - ➤ Early voting ended from April 22nd-29th with fewer than 5 percent of registered Dallas County voters casting ballots and nearly 69,000 early votes counted, while Denton County also saw lower turnout. More than 1.3 million voters will cast ballots on Saturday when polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. KERA
