- ➤ Today, Ochre House Theater at 825 Exposition Ave presents Moving Creatures as artistic director Matthew Posey satirizes politics with a dark tale of Baron Leopold Verdugo and his four dangerous creations—drawing on themes from the Gilded Age. The show runs through May 24 at 8:15 p.m. with tickets from $14 to $27 and a pay what you can night on May 12. KERA
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lewisville ISD will lay off 460 bus drivers by summer break as it cuts costs and shifts to hiring internally rather than renewing its contract with a bus service agency. The district said it spends about $16 million on transportation annually & expects to save $3 to $5 million with the change. CBS Texas
- ➤ UT Dallas will have a new leader soon after the UT System regents unanimously named Prabhas Moghe as the sole finalist for president on May 8th. His formal appointment will follow after a 21-day waiting period — replacing outgoing President Richard Benson, who will return to teaching after the 2024–25 school year. KERA

- ➤ The Dallas Morning News will report how a growing North Texas population may change our schools, workforce, roads and health care as experts project an increase from 8 million to 12 million residents by 2050—this coverage will help Denton residents understand what these changes mean for our local community. - ➤ The Denton Fire Department and American Red Cross will install free smoke alarms in Denton homes on Saturday—covering West Denton and nearby areas to boost fire safety. The installation is set to help residents prepare for emergencies. Denton Record-Chronicle
