ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ One year after a deadly EF–3 tornado tore through Cooke, Denton and Montague counties and killed seven people, survivors are still struggling to rebuild their homes and farms amid long delays with insurance and rising costs — the family farm lost most of its animals and operations. Todd Smith said his family received their final insurance check just before Christmas and now works to restore their farm despite an estimated $1M in damage. CBS Texas
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Denton City Council voted last week to repeal the law that decriminalized low-level marijuana offenses because it violated state law and cost the city hundreds of thousands in legal fees — Mayor Gerard Hudspeth said the repeal follows enforcement challenges noted by City Manager Sara Hensley and comes as a state bill banning THC products nears review.
