- ➤ Neighbors have been fighting to save the historic Hartlee Field area for a park when Denton ISD bought 50 acres of the property on March 30 for a future school—local residents now fear that this purchase may speed up development and change the area they value. KERA
- ➤ On May 20, the Denton City Council voted 4-3 to repeal an ordinance that had decriminalized low-level marijuana possession even though over 32,000 voters supported it last November. Local residents and protest groups said the decision felt like a betrayal—prompting some to call for recalls—while the council pointed to state law pressures and mounting litigation costs.
