- ➤ Burt and Missy Finger—longtime Denton residents—will bring their influential Photographs Do Not Bend Gallery to a new 2,600-square-foot space in the basement of the Wells Fargo Building at 101 S. Locust St. They will open the gallery in September—aiming to connect their decades of fine art photography with Denton’s growing local arts scene. KERA
- ➤ Denton was named one of the best cities for creatives by Workamajig, which studied museums, creative jobs, and festivals in cities with over 100,000 people + the city supports a growing arts and music scene through local colleges and community events. City of Denton
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Teachers in North Texas may receive pay raises in 2026 if Governor Abbott signs the $8.5 billion school funding bill that passed on Thursday. The bill provides $4.2 billion for teacher pay (with larger districts awarding $2,500 or $5,000 raises and smaller districts nearly doubling those amounts) and allocates funds for school security, special education, and early learning, with Abbott having until June 22 to sign. - ➤ A North Texas mother from Midlothian said a new once-daily drug for postpartum depression helped her overcome her hardest year after her daughter was born prematurely.
