Golden Triangle Mall reopened Wednesday at about 3:00 p.m. after the Denton Fire Department evacuated the building because of a gas leak.

A Denton mall was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon after a gas leak was detected outside the Barnes & Noble entrance at the Golden Triangle Mall & at the intersection of Loop 288 and I-35E as officials worked to repair the gas line and advised residents to avoid the area.

Congressman Brandon Gill announced 22 military academy appointments for local graduating seniors on Tuesday.

The students were honored at a reception in The Colony and received a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol as part of a Special Certificate of Congressional Recognition.
