EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas Woman’s University published its Spring 2025 deans’ and chancellor’s lists for undergraduate students at its Denton, Dallas and Houston campuses; students must complete at least 12 graded credit hours with a minimum 3.5 GPA to make the deans’ list while those with a perfect 4.0 are on the chancellor’s list. The lists were last updated at 12:25 p.m. on June 16 + they highlight top academic performance from this past spring. Voice of Denton
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Regional Transportation Council approved millions in federal funds for a dozen bike and pedestrian projects across North Texas—one project includes a Silver Line bike trail in Addison while another supports a Safe Routes to School plan that aims to improve safety. Denton Record-Chronicle
- ➤ At a city council work session on Tuesday, Denton officials presented plans to cut over $7 million in spending—about half of the nearly $14.5 million reduction needed for next year’s budget, a move to address financial challenges. Denton Record-Chronicle
- ➤ Representative Andy Hopper, a 48-year-old father, engineer, and farmer, was elected in November to represent District 64 and finished his first legislative session earlier this month. He grew up in Kansas City, North Carolina, and Ohio but now works on his 11-acre farm in Wise County—he will focus on homesteading until the legislature returns. KERA
