Kevin Mercer, the general manager of Denton County Fresh Water Supply Districts #6 and #7, was honored for 25 years of service at a surprise party on May 8 at the Lantana Community Event Center—organized by Lantana Cares with over 50 friends and colleagues attending.

Mercer has played a key role in overseeing water and wastewater systems as Lantana grew from a barren area to a thriving community of 4,100 homes.

The Denton Juneteenth Jubilee was held on June 19 and celebrated 160 years of freedom with parades, music, and community events—honoring a tradition that began in 1892.

At a June 17 web conference, Vice President and Athletic Director Jared Mosley explained that following the June 6 House vs NCAA settlement—which requires a $2.8 billion back-payment plan over 10 years and a $420,000 annual revenue reduction—the university has budgeted for these changes while shifting to a revenue sharing model and increasing targeted scholarship investments in Olympic sports. This move sets new rules for sharing athletic revenue and adjusting roster limits.
