Denton is now the official Halloween Capital of Texas after the Texas legislature approved a resolution—replacing its former title as the Redbud Capital—that will remain until 2035.

Last year's 31 Days of Denton Halloween brought 660,000 visitors downtown and helped spark the change.

TWU History Division published the largest 2025 edition of Ibid. on July 1 featuring 19 essays by undergraduate and master’s students—award-winning entries include Miranda Adams for best undergraduate work and Katelyn Briscoe for her graduate paper while Marlene Schaffer received the Editor’s Choice Award. The journal remains open to all TWU students and offers a valuable platform to contribute to historical studies as highlighted by faculty advisor Aubri Thurmond.
