ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Jeff and Tanya Ramsey from Lewisville died during the deadly July Fourth flood in Central Texas after they warned family members at nearby campsites—friends say their final act likely saved lives.  CBS Texas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Denton County public facilities and service providers have opened free cooling stations for residents to keep cool during the extreme heat. The stations will operate throughout the summer so locals can avoid dangerous temperatures.  Denton Record-Chronicle
  • After catastrophic flooding of the Guadalupe River killed more than 120 people and displaced thousands in the Hill Country, Denton County is coordinating flood recovery efforts to help affected communities. County officials said they will soon provide details on how local residents can assist with rebuilding efforts.  Denton Record-Chronicle
  • The Denton City Jail and Police Department reopened on July 8 after closing in late June for sewer pipe repairs and building renovations. Inmates were transferred to Denton County Jail (for more serious charges) or Flower Mound Jail (for minor offenses) with bookings now appearing online.  North Texas Daily
