- ➤ The University of North Texas settled with professor Timothy Jackson for $725,000 after he accused the school of limiting academic freedom and free speech following racial backlash from his 2020 symposium+ The settlement, ending a five-year dispute, allows Jackson to resume editing the Journal of Schenkerian Studies and drop his First Amendment claims. - ➤ Voting Centers Now (an advocacy group of Denton election workers) started a petition on June 17 asking for countywide Election Day voting because 10 to 15 percent of voters face confusion; at Tuesday's commissioner’s court, GOP Chair Melinda Preston warned that voting centers could risk voter privacy and lead to long lines.
