Lewisville PD seized 285 pounds of marijuana on Sunday after pulling over a vehicle for expired registration and missing insurance—Officer J.
Slaughter smelled unburnt marijuana and led a search that uncovered the drugs in a sealed compartment.

Families in Denton can take advantage of Texas’s tax-free weekend for school supplies and essentials, which runs from Aug.
8 until midnight on Aug. 10 — items such as binders, backpacks, and lunch boxes qualify — and shoppers will pay no tax on clothing and shoes during the event.
🎓 Education
University of North Texas was the only school in the region to receive a $217,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant, announced Friday, which will support its project to digitize 100,000 pages of historic newspapers from 1690 to 1963.
The grant, given in partnership with the Library of Congress, will continue the university’s efforts to make historical materials more accessible—boosting the digital archive for future research.
