- ➤ The North Texas Fair and Rodeo starts today at the North Texas Fairgrounds in Denton and will run until August 24 with rides, food, livestock shows and rodeo events. Kids aged 3 to 7 will compete in the Mutton Bustin’ event during nightly rodeo shows while live country music featuring Shane Smith and The Saints begins today on the Miller Lite Main Stage — adding a fun adventure for all. - ➤ Lauren LeBlanc has turned her YA ghost story into a musical with songs by Ian Ferguson and will hold a free workshop production at the Bath House Cultural Center from Aug 20-21—using projections for ghostly effects. KERA

- ➤ On Tuesday, the Denton ISD board voted to put a 5-cent tax rate increase—known as Proposition A—on the November 4 ballot so that many property owners may see lower monthly taxes with a new homestead exemption. The district expects the measure to bring in an extra $26 million to reduce its deficit, though individual bills may vary. KERA
