Due to extreme heat this week, nearly 100 residents have taken shelter at Denton Community Shelter while staff seek donations to support extra overnight guests.

Denton lifted Stage 1 watering restrictions on Aug.
23 after repairs on a damaged basin at a city water treatment facility, and residents now have normal service levels. The restrictions had been in place since Aug. 19 as part of the Drought Contingency Plan & water conservation efforts.

Dallas Cowboys rookie Shiyazh Pete became the first member of the Navajo Nation to sign with an NFL team during his preseason debut Saturday, inspiring native fans and community leaders in North Texas.
