- ➤ Residents north of Krum have faced frequent power outages since the start of the year that have disrupted home life, affected farms relying on well water, and forced Slidell ISD to cancel classes. - ➤ Denton smoke shop owners are preparing for a new law that bans several vape products, including THC and Chinese-made e-cigarettes, starting Sept. 1. Local stores such as Cheech & Chong’s Apothicaria are offering discounts to clear current stock—violations of the law could lead to fines and jail time. KERA

- ➤ The Denton City Council will hold a public hearing on September 16 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall — Council Chambers at 215 E McKinney St to review a proposed change in zoning for Hillcrest Center from Planned Development 142 to Planned Development – General Office District covering about 68 acres east of North Interstate 35, north of Loop 288, and southwest of Highway 77. The City sent notices to properties within 200 feet and as a courtesy to those within 500 feet as required by law. City of Denton
- ➤ The Denton Fire Department earned a three-year accreditation with perfect scores from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services—city officials said the recognition reflects the department's strong commitment to safety. Denton Record-Chronicle
