EDUCATION NEWS

  • Undocumented college students in North Texas now must pay out-of-state rates after the court overturned the Texas Dream Act. Sienna, a former UNT Dallas student, said her tuition doubled from $4,799 to $10,873—forcing many to withdraw as their financial aid was lost.  CBS Texas

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Dallas Cowboys will open the NFL season tonight against the Philadelphia Eagles as fans travel from DFW and organize watch parties in Arlington—supporters show strong North Texas pride for their team.  NBC 5
  • Today, Northlake leaders along with representatives from the Dallas Stars and Lee Lewis Construction held a beam signing event for a planned 225,000-square-foot multisport facility at Highway 114 and Chadwick Parkway. The $55 million project will open in spring and is expected to feature NHL-regulation ice rinks, basketball courts+volleyball courts and additional spaces that will draw 1.3 million visitors.  Cross Timbers Gazette
