- ➤ Dr. Frederick D. Haynes III, the senior pastor at Friendship-West Baptist Church, is on temporary medical leave for surgery following a recent diagnosis and will spend several weeks recovering. The church has named Rev. David Malcom McGruder as Executive Pastor (while Mrs. Veta Holt continues managing business and financial operations) until his return. NBC 5
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Today, Texas Woman’s University opened its first Welcome Center at renovated Brackenridge Hall at 402 Administration Drive. The 84,000-square-foot facility now houses student services including admissions, financial aid, registrar and Career Connections — a project completed over 18 months to support growing enrollment. - ➤ The university received an F rating from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression—scoring 54.03 and ranking 200 out of 257 after 213 students were surveyed. In response, Texas Lt. Gov and House Speaker announced committees to monitor free speech and implemented Senate Bill 2972—limiting late-night protest activities on Sept. 1. North Texas Daily
