ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A severe storm on Sunday left one woman dead and overturned RVs in Sanger, and on Monday neighbors rescued her dog from the trailer—now the pet is cared for by a local resident as officials assess further damage.  NBC 5
  • Severe storms hit Denton County on Sunday evening—causing a 45 to 50-foot hole in the roof of the Walmart Distribution Center in Sanger and injuring one person.  CBS Texas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Nov. 4, Texas voters will decide on 17 constitutional amendments that include tax cuts for homeowners and businesses, funding for technical schools, changes to bail, and water infrastructure measures—many proposals could lower local tax revenue and affect public services. Voters must register by Oct. 6 and may vote early from Oct. 20 to 31.  KERA
  • NASA named 10 astronaut candidates on Sept. 22—among them TCU graduate Anna Menon and test pilot Rebecca Lawler from Little Elm. They will train for two years to support missions to the Moon and Mars.  NBC 5
  • Last week two fiber optic cables were accidentally cut—knocking out radar and communications at DFW and Dallas Love Field and delaying flights while stranding thousands of passengers. The FAA blamed failures by Frontier Communications and Congress will work on long-term fixes to add system redundancies.  CBS Texas
