BUSINESS NEWS

  • American Airlines had a maintenance problem that delayed 1,000 flights—over 400 delays and about 40 cancellations at DFW occurred yesterday. Many passengers missed their connections and experienced changed travel plans as the airline worked with alternative processes.  CBS Texas

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faculty at the local university are upset that they did not receive meaningful salary raises for FY25 while administrators saw significant pay increases—faculty say the lack of transparency and small raises leave them feeling undervalued and pressured to find extra work to keep up with rising costs.  North Texas Daily

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City Council in Denton will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to consider re-zoning about 1 acre of land from a Mixed Use Neighborhood district to a Suburban Corridor district—this change would include a $2,000 penalty for violations.  City of Denton
  • The Denton City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday, October 14th at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall—City Council Chambers at 215 E McKinney St to review an ordinance that shifts about 34.5 acres south of US380 from Rural Areas to Light Industrial and about 22.5 acres north and south of US380 from Low Residential to Community Mixed Use. The amendment aligns with the Denton 2040 plan and includes a severability clause and an effective date.  City of Denton
  • The Denton City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 14 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall—this meeting will review a petition for the annexation of about 15.011 acres north of West University Drive and 500 feet east of Nail Road and let interested citizens speak or observe.  City of Denton
