CULTURE NEWS

  • Local drag performers in Denton will host a Rocky Horror drag show viewing party on October 18 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Greater Denton Arts Council—tickets cost $15.  KERA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Denton City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday, October 21 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to consider changing the zoning of about 43.7 acres from Public Facilities and Mixed-Use Neighborhood Districts to the Mixed-Use Downtown District — the proposal includes an updated zoning map, a penalty for violations, and alignment with the Denton 2040 Comprehensive Plan.  City of Denton
  • Denton’s Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing at City Hall on Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 p.m. to review a request to rezone 2.63 acres at the northeast corner of US 377 and Brush Creek Road—its recommendation will be forwarded to City Council for final action.  City of Denton
  • On Oct. 1, Denton Municipal Electric announced a 10-year power purchase agreement with Jupiter Power for 100MW of battery storage via the Tidwell Power II project—power will begin delivery in June; City Council approved the deal on Sept. 30 as part of DME’s commitment to reliable, renewable energy in Denton.  City of Denton
  • The Denton Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing to review Lee Anne Todd's request for a Historic Landmark designation at 3316 Roselawn Drive. The event is set for Wednesday, October 22 at 6:30 pm in City Hall—City Council Chambers and the Commission will send its recommendation to City Council for final action.  City of Denton
