CRIME NEWS

  • A Celina ISD teacher and coach, William Caleb Elliott, 26, was arrested last Friday after police executed a search warrant at Moore Middle School and charged with invasive visual recording— a state jail felony; he has been placed on indefinite administrative leave while the investigation continues.  CBS Texas

CULTURE NEWS

  • TWU students open the Fashion Design Exhibit today at the Den at Blagg-Huey Library to show inclusive clothing made for patients at Scottish Rite for Children. The exhibit was created over two years and will run until November 9 with a reception on October 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—offering a clear view of creative, hands-on work.  Voice of Denton

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Elm Fork Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist has received H-E-B funds for three conservation projects that support native pollinators and tree restoration in North Texas. Two projects are under the Pollinators for Texas initiative and one will plant 1,000 saplings on November 8—Arbor Day.  Voice of Denton

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City announced that the Municipal Court lobby and service windows at City Hall East will temporarily be moved for building repairs—Municipal Court will close early at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow for the move while the judge’s office and courtroom remain in their current location and services resume Thursday in the main lobby near the Customer Service windows.  City of Denton
  • Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s new Silver Line will begin service on October 25 to link TEXRail at two stations at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport — officials say the move will boost regional transit with a $6 million annual payment to Trinity Metro. The service will eventually connect to cities like Denton, Lewisville, and Highland Village, helping more workers and visitors travel ahead of the World Cup.  KERA
  • TxDOT reported that the southbound I‑35E ramp to North Texas Blvd. closed at 9 p.m. Monday for reconstruction as part of the I‑35E/I‑35W merge project — drivers are advised to leave early and use alternate routes if construction extends into Friday and to stay alert for work crews.  Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Denton County held public sessions at Denton Convention Center and Midway Church for residents to review design alternatives for the Outer Loop project—online feedback will be accepted until October 29 as part of the Environmental Impact Statement process with TxDOT to connect I-35 and Dallas North Tollway. The project is evaluating four build options plus a no-build plan to address regional growth.  Voice of Denton
  • Texas Congressman Wesley Hunt announced Monday he is running in the GOP primary for U.S. Senate and promised new leadership to challenge Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton—he launched a TV ad blitz in the Dallas–Fort Worth market to boost his recognition among undecided voters. Some analysts say his entry could force a runoff if his numbers continue to grow.  CBS Texas
