- ➤ Texas Woman’s University will host a free webinar on college admission essay writing on October 20 from 6-7 p.m. for high school seniors, parents, and counselors — the session led by Dr. Jackie Hoermann-Elliott will offer step-by-step guidance and a raffle for two $500 scholarships for prospective students. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents in Denton now receive real-time text updates for service requests and waste reminders to inform them when to put out trash and recycling. Launched in April, the system alerts residents about any collection delays due to holidays or severe weather (helping them stay informed). Voice of Denton
- ➤ Denton's new pilot program will test digital water meters—approved last week—to catch leaks and give customers more insight into their water use at various locations. The six- to twelve-month trial has a contract of about $614,000 and will help decide if all 42,000 meters should be upgraded. KERA
