- ➤ Food pantries across North Texas are getting ready to help more families as an ongoing government shutdown could cut SNAP benefits in November. Over 500 food banks and community partners serve 460,000 people in 12 counties, with several Denton locations set to provide nutritious food. KERA

- ➤ Denton celebrates 31 Days of Halloween with over 300 free events and themed attractions such as a Garden of Villains, a mad scientist maze, and graveyard displays — the city was named the Halloween Capital of Texas by state proclamation — as local residents enjoy creative displays throughout the month. Last year, the festivities brought in 140,000 extra visitors and $15M in sales tax revenue. NBC 5
- ➤ Denton band Midlake will release its album A Bridge to Far on Nov 7th, featuring classic folky prog-rock tunes such as 'The Calling' and 'Days Gone By.' The band will hold an album-release concert on Nov 15th at Tulips in Fort Worth — with opening act Paul Schalda ahead of an 11-city winter tour of Europe. KERA
