  • David and Mechelle Freeman returned to Denton after nearly two weeks stuck in Jamaica when Hurricane Melissa forced their group to shelter in a movie theater. Flights from Montego Bay were canceled and the resort suffered severe damage + communication was spotty, leaving the couple relieved to be home.  CBS Texas
  • On Tuesday morning, local emergency services rescued a skittish kitten that hid in a car's dashboard after a driver spotted it on the road — crews removed panels and brackets to retrieve the animal, which is now recovering at the station and has been named Dasher for its love of dashboards.  Cross Timbers Gazette
  • Denton locals are helping neighbors as SNAP benefits face disruption from the government shutdown—businesses and groups are offering discounts, free kids’ meals at Chestnut Tree and The LakeHaus, and are collecting canned goods.  Denton Record-Chronicle

  • A North Texas casting company is seeking extras for two Taylor Sheridan shows for Paramount+ with filming set to start on Nov. 10. The Lioness spy thriller will film in Fort Worth while the Yellowstone spinoff will film ranch scenes in Granbury on Nov. 10, office roles in Dallas on Nov. 17 and airport roles in Fort Worth on Nov. 19 — more auditions are being offered for these future projects.  CBS Texas
