As schools close for holiday break, nonprofit Lovepacs has stepped in to help thousands of North Texas kids by delivering food boxes with two meals and a snack per day—each simple meal includes items like oatmeal or peanut butter and jelly.

The group, which fed 7,000 children last Thanksgiving break, received a $1,000 donation from Tom Thumb and Albertsons to support its year-round work.
