Texas Woman’s University was ranked among the nation’s top 500 colleges by the Wall Street Journal for 2026—placing it second among North Texas colleges and seventh among public universities.

The ranking—based on student experience, career preparation and return on investment—shows the university’s efforts to improve student outcomes.

Jared Mosley, vice president and director of athletics, proposed a 40% fee increase during the Oct.

8 Student Government Association meeting that would raise the fee from $17.85 to a starting $20 and eventually $25 over four years — a change aimed at closing the funding gap in athletics. Federal workers in North Texas missed full paychecks on Friday as the government shutdown continued—union leaders reported that TSA and EPA employees have begun facing furloughs and layoffs.
